The Massachusetts Correctional Institution, Framingham, houses females sentenced to imprisonment, awaiting trial, or committed by the courts for alcohol or substance abuse treatment (MGLA c 125, s 16; c 123, s 35). Under the supervision of the deputy superintendent for operations, the director of security is responsible for overseeing operations that ensure the prison's security. Disciplinary reports are written by officers to report inmate infractions of institutional rules and are submitted to the disciplinary officer, who deterimines whether they are a major or minor offense, processes the report, and dispenses punishment. The director of security is a reviewing authority in this process.
